Apple CEO Tim Cook Wears Meme-Worthy Black Nike Air Force 1s at Apple’s ‘Scary Fast’ Event

Apple‘s CEO Tim Cook just wore a meme-worthy pair of sneakers for the tech brand’s Scary Fast event. The event held on Monday boasted big news for Apple fans everywhere. The new MacBook Pro 14” and 16” were revealed to the world, along with the new iMac supercharged by the M3 family of chips that promises 2x faster performance.

Directed by filmmaker Brian Oakes and filmed on an iPhone 15 Pro Max, the broadcasted 30-minute event saw Cook clad in an all-black ensemble comprised of a bomber jacket, T-shirt and coordinating denim.

The star of the business executive’s ensemble, however, was his footwear; a pair of matching all-black low-top Air Force 1s, an infamous Nike classic. The shoe has garnered a reputation as such thanks to a long-standing meme-worthy lore.

The footwear has been associated with service characters and also criminals on social media. The joke, which began in 2018, has no real backing behind it. It was just widely accepted that those who wore the sneaker style either worked in the food service industry or committed various crimes.

Despite the meme culture surrounding them, the Air Force 1 silhouette prevails, proving to be one of Nike’s most popular and best-selling styles to date.

The Air Force 1 sneaker was first released in 1982. Since its release, the game-changing sneaker silhouette has garnered a wide range of fans from sneakerheads to athletes alike. The sneaker is sold in low, mid and high-top styles and has since been released in a variety of colorways although all-white is the most popular color.
