Jennifer Hudson brought a rock-ready kind of glamour to the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The EGOT winner arrived in head-to-toe black leather.
Her boots anchored the look: over-the-knee black leather with a soft matte finish and a close, sculpted fit through the leg. The loosened slightly at the ankle, creating natural folds above a thin stiletto heel. The pointed toe kept the shape sleek, while short side zippers with leather pulls added a bit of hardware detailing.
Hudson’s long-sleeved, off-the-shoulder mini-dress followed the same idea — paneled leather cut to fit like armor, but softened by an off-shoulder neckline edged in crystals. She accessorized with drop earrings and stacked rings.
The appearance marked a tonal shift from Hudson’s footwear choice earlier this year at the Whitney Houston 40th Anniversary Gala, where she wore silver crystal-encrusted pumps. The move from embellishment to full-grain leather underscored a broader red-carpet shift toward structured, minimal but still impactful finishes — as showcased recently with Mary J. Blige’s GG-printed Gucci thigh-highs and Michelle Obama’s Balenciaga Knife boots.
The 40th annual 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony took place on Saturday, November 8 at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles and streamed live on Disney+. This year’s class of inductees included Outkast, Soundgarden, The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, Joe Cocker, Bad Company and Chubby Checker, while the Musical Influence Prize was awarded to Salt‑N‑Pepa and Warren Zevon. During the show, Hudson took the stage for a tribute to Sly Stone, joining Stevie Wonder, Beck and Questlove for a rendition of “Higher.”
