Nike’s running comeback continues to show promise, with the Vomero franchise the most searched of December.
Research comes from the investment bank Jefferies, which tracks search results for 154 running franchises month-to-month. Nike also took the second spot with its Pegasus franchise, one of three prongs for its running relaunch along with the Vomero and Structure lines. Each banner carries a numbered hero product, e.g. the Vomero 18, along with Plus and Premium versions delivering more technology.
The Vomero Plus, widely considered one of the best running shoes to release in 2025, was considered one of the bright spots. Prior to the release of the Plus and Premium, chief executive officer Elliot Hill said in the company’s fiscal 2025 fourth quarter earnings report that the franchise had already hit $100 million in sales off the back of the Vomero 18.
For 2026 Q2, Nike reported 20 percent growth for its running division. Part of the gains can be attributed to Nike’s refocus on specialty run stores, and Fleet Feet CEO Joey Pointer told Footwear News in December: “It’s good to see them back in stores, but the product is just good. They’ve always excelled at the pinnacle product, but brands like Hoka and Brooks, even New Balance, were taking them every single day because they had better cushioning, better support, and a better everyday running experience. Nike has corrected that.”
The Adidas Terrex trail running line accounted for the third most searches coming off the launch of four Agravic Speed shoes at the beginning of December. Agravic Speed Ultra 2 leads the range as a trail super shoe.
Coming in fourth and fifth were the Asics Novablast and Adidas Ultrablast franchises, respectively. The top ten was rounded out (in order) by Hoka Bondi, Adidas Adizero, Nike Vaporfly, Hoka Clifton and Nike Alphafly.
Of the ten silos, the Clifton had the most month-to-month growth with 28.9 percent, followed directly by the Hoka Bondi with 24.8 percent. Adidas Terrex came in a close third with 23.9 percent growth, while the Nike Alphafly actually decreased in search volume by 23.5 percent.
Overall, the Puma Voyage had the most significant jump at 842 percent, despite not making it into the top ten. Nike’s Structure line had the eight biggest boost with 326 percent growth following the unveiling of the Structure Plus.
