It’s got the best of the URSA line, including breathable nylon and suede upper, GORE-TEX waterproof liner, and Vibram MegaGrip outsole, but also features 400G insulation in a taller design for added protection from the elements.
Meindl Eurolite Hunter
We actually discovered the Meindl EuroLite Hunter boots late last year, so we never had a chance to include them in last year’s Best Boots category, but they certainly deserve the attention. They are easily one of the best lightweight backcountry boots to come along in while. They are light but tough, they feature 9″ waxed full-grain Nubuck leather uppers (and reinforced toe cap) to stand up to use and abuse in a wide range of field conditions. A Gore-Tex waterproof, breathable liner keeps water out but lets perspiration vapor escape. Flex-Zone Venting, a series of strategically placed vents in the forefoot, allows the boot to breathe and move naturally with your feet. Flex-Zone in the Achilles areas enhances your natural stepping motion while a high-performance polyurethane midsole and Air Active insoles provides cushioning and support. And you’ll appreciate the over-sized gusset that opens wide for easy on and off; no more struggling to pull them on at the start or kick them off at the end of the day.

Chene Gear Zippered Knee Boot
Chêne Gear is one of the newer players in the hunting boot game, but they are quickly finding their place among demanding hunters in search of a more hunter-friendly boot that keeps their feet dry and comfortable. These knee-high boots are built with premium, natural rubber over insulating neoprene for durability, flexibility and complete waterproof protection. Their quick drying and moisture wicking liner will keep your feet dry and comfortable. The extra 7mm innersoles allow you to customize the fit to your feet giving you a comfortable, secure fit to keep your foot in place while on the move and the unique tread pattern gives you the traction to move through demanding terrain. Best yet, the full length side YKK zipper allows for easy on and off with a waterproof gusset.

Chene Slough Boot
When the hunt takes you into and across deeper waters, you’ll need more than just a pair of knee boots. Creek crossings and beaver sloughs call for waders. The crew at Chêne Gear answered the need for a wader/boot hybrid to help you get across those high-water access points. The Slough Boot features a 12” Extension of 4-layer Chêne Gear Wader Nylon material with an elastic band that provides 12” of extra waterproof material. This material folds down out of the way when not in use. The wader material extension has a 9”-16” webbing clip that will connect to a belt loop or belt to hold the extension in place. They are the perfect option to get you back into where the big bucks hide.

LITE Boots has come on strong in recent years offering hunters the lightest 16″ boot ever made. The lightweight design is truly impressive. However, for 2024, the younger generation of hunters can have the best of these lightweight hunting boots, just like the big kids. The Kids Classic is a 12″ boot that’s 100% waterproof in a seamless, one-piece design. They have a temperature rating from10-80 degrees and weigh only 12 oz per pair.

The all-new Pathfinder boot from Muck was built for the hunter that spends a considerable amount of time in the mud and muck that often come with hunting season. The boot was inspired by the flexibility of the Apex Pro and comes equipped with flex notches in the front for added comfort and high-performance. Its stretch-fit topline binding snugs your calf to keep warmth in and cold out, and the air mesh lining improves breathability while you’re in motion. The Pathfinder’s reinforced toe tip and heel counter provide durability, while the modified rubber bob sole quickly disperses debris, and mud. They are 100% waterproof, 15″ in height and weigh 2.30 lbs.
